These mittens are made in the round on double pointed needles (DPN) so there are no seams which means you get to enjoy the knitting more with minimal finishing afterwards.

CO 24 sts using 2 strands of yarn (either from two skeins or one from the center and the other that’s wrapped around the outside) onto Double Point Needles in US 9 (5.5mm). Divide the sts onto two (12 sts each) or three needles (8 sts each). Place a stitch marker at the beginning when doing the first row. This will help you keep track of which row you are on.
Rows 1-10 [Ribbing for wrist of mitten]: K2, P2

Rows 23-25: K
Row 26: K1, transfer 7 sts onto stitch holder, K remaining sts. (23 sts) * I typically use an extra double pointed needle I have laying around as the stitchholder, just be sure stitches don’t slip off as you’re knitting the hand-portion.
Hand-portion of Mitten:
Rows 27 – 47:: K these 20 rows (23 sts)
Decrease of Mitten:
Dividing the remaining sts onto two double pointed needles (12 sts onto one needle and 11 sts on another). This will make it easier to decrease for the top of the mitten.

Row 53: K2tog 5 times, k1 (6 sts)
Pull end of yarn through remaining 6 sts.
Transfer the 7 sts that are on the stitch holder to two US 10.5 DPN (4 sts on one and 3 sts on the other).
Pick up 3 sts from the top portion above the 7 sts onto US 10.5 DPN.
Rows 1-10: K (10 sts)
Decrease row 11: k2tog 5 times.
